It is impossible to talk about high grade chronographs from the 1960s without bringing up the Omega Speedmaster. In many ways, the Speedmaster set the bar for every sporting chrono that followed, raising the bar to a lofty new level (about 240,000 miles above Earth!). But the iconic Speedmaster wasn't the only Omega chronograph made in the 1960s. Their high grade manually wound Calibre .861, which supplanted the Lemania .321 in 1968 in Speedmaster line, also found its way into the considerably less common - one might even say rare - Seamaster chronographs from the same era. The Seamaster line was, at the time, the more stylish alternative - more about the looks than about its technical capabilities. But with the professional-grade Calibre .861 it was no less proficient a timing tool.
